Sweet pepper "Ingrid"
Sweet Pepper "Ingrid" (Chocolate).
A mid-late variety for greenhouses, distinguished by its unusual color and taste.
Characteristics:
* Fruits: Large, blocky (cuboid), fleshy (weight up to 200 g).
* Color: Dark green at technical maturity, noble dark brown (chocolate) when fully ripe.
* Taste: Very sweet and pleasant.
* Yield: High.
GUIDE: Sweet Pepper Agrotechnics (Capsicum annuum).
1. Sowing and Seedlings.
Sow 10-12 weeks before planting out (early March for Northern Europe). Depth 0.5 cm. Germination temp +25...+30°C. Peppers dislike repotting; sow directly into 0.5 L pots if possible.
2. Planting Out.
Seedling age: 60-70 days. Spacing: 70-95 x 40-45 cm.
Dates (Estonia context): Heated greenhouses — late April; unheated — mid-May; open ground — early June.
3. Care.
Water every 5-7 days with warm water. Fluctuations in moisture cause flower drop. Fertilize every 2-3 weeks.
MASTER CLASS: If seedlings become leggy (Late April).
Causes: overcrowding, heat, and lack of light.
How to fix:
1. Spacing: Move pots apart so leaves do not touch.
2. Potting Up: Transplant into larger containers to redirect energy to roots.
3. Pruning: Remove 1-2 lower leaves to reduce shading.
4. Regime: Lower the temperature (ventilation) and slightly reduce watering.
